What kind of LARP is MirrorSight?
MirrorSight uses the Accelerant system designed by Rob Ciccolini, which means that we engage in lightest touch boffer combat. However, MirrorSight aims to be much more than a combat simulator. We seek to introduce players to a setting that feels complex and lived in, allowing them to engage with it via social roleplay, investigation, and intrigue. We value a high level of immersion, which means that there are no “out of game” times during our events (though we do try to provide “out of game” spaces). We also value intersectional inclusivity, meaning that we do our best to represent and incorporate marginalized identities into our world without the prejudices of the real world.
How do I join the game?
Our custom database allows players to build a player character, sign up for events as a PC or NPC, and fill out a Player Overview to privately share important (but potentially sensitive) information such as triggers, allergies, and housing preferences. You MUST fill out a Player Overview and register for the event at least [time] in advance!
I have a phsyical disability; can I still play?
Absolutely! While we cannot promise that our game site will always be perfectly accessible, we have designed our system to be as accessible as possible, with many ways to create low-combat or non-combat characters. If you have medical restrictions that need accomodation (for instance, cannot be struck in simulated combat) please reach out to us. We will be happy to discuss accomodations and help you design a character that you can safely play!
How much does each event cost?
Attending an event as a player character costs $100. This fee earns you a bunk in an air conditioned cabin from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon and helps cover the cost of our site rental, event insurance, and supplies for Monster camp. You can pay using the link in [link to specific page] or pay during sign in. If you pay at least [time] in advance, you’ll also get a Shiny Point!
Do you have a cheaper option?
Yes! We have a limited number of Sponsored Players, who receive a discounted ticket thanks to the generous donations of our players. Alternatively, if you are interested in helping us out as a non-player character, your event is free!
What do I need to bring?
We strongly recommend joining our community on Discord and Facebook to get specific suggestions from experienced players.
However, in general, you should plan to bring pillows and sheets/blankets for your bunk (twin size), toiletries and medication, as well as any costuming, props, and makeup needed for your character.
Is food provided?
[Information about dining plan or cooking facilities available.]
What do I do when I arrive?
You may arrive on site as early as [time] on Friday. Parking is limited, but close to player cabins for easy unloading. Please prioritize parking behind the main hall, when possible. Player Character Sign-In and Weapons Check starts around [time] at [place], and Opening Announcements begin in the same place at [time]. The game will begin shortly after!
What if I arrive after game on?
Please do your best to avoid disrupting play while you park and bring your gear to your cabin. Once you’ve unloaded, you should come to Monster Camp at [place] to sign in. Just knock and yell “PC in camp!” before entering Monster Camp!
Do players perform NPC shifts?
We rarely ask players who have paid for an event to spend part of their weekend fighting on the NPC side, instead relying on volunteers from LARPs (mostly other Accelerant games) with which we have organized a CP exchange. This means that players from other games earn Character Points for playing as an NPC for us, while our players can earn Shiny Points by playing as an NPC at other games.
Very occasionally, PCs may be asked if they would like to “volunteer for a delivery route.” This is our in-game way of asking for volunteers for an NPC shift, and any PC that accepts will receive an in-game reward at the end of their shift.

What are Shiny Points?
Shiny Points are the “currency” in a system we use to track and reward players who help the game or our community in meaningful ways. Common ways to earn Shiny Points include donating requested items to Monster Camp, submitting a Post Event Letter, or accepting a set-up or clean-up task for a particular game. Once earned, Shiny Points can then be redeemed for Character Points, crafting components, in-game currency, or other useful rewards for a player character.
Why not reward with Character Points?
Many of the things that we reward with Shiny Points, other LARPs reward with Character Points. However, MirrorSight is a level-capped game, meaning that there is a fixed ceiling for how many Character Points a character may have. Shiny Points incentivize investing in our community without disrupting our Character Point limits. For more information, look at our Organizational Policies, page 29.
